Engine oil level: general information



It is normal for an engine to use oil for

lubrication and cooling of moving parts

and it is normal to top up the level be-

tween oil changes.



  

      





The oil level should be read with the ve-

hicle on level ground, after the engine

has been switched off for some time.

      

      



    

The instrument panel display only

alerts the driver when the oil level is at

its minimum





While starting the engine, press either

button 2 or 3 when the message

“Checking control functions” appears.

The message “Oil level” appears with

bar 1 on the instrument panel display.

As the oil level drops, the bar 1 de-

creases.

 it is possible that the exact oil

level will not be displayed after a short

journey.





The message “Top up oil level” ap-

pears.

  



The display only warns the

driver if the oil level is at the

minimum level. It does not

inform the driver that the oil

level has exceeded the maximum

level as this can only be measured

using a dipstick.






